Fantastic video, Monte!
Great video as usual here Monte. Thanks for taking the time to put this up. Forgot to revisit this question during our lesson yesterday…. Wondering what the proper position is for the left arm at left arm parallel (backswing)? Noticed in this video and others you have done that it is pretty much down the toe line. Seems like a lot of swings that I look at, the left arm is inside the toe line (in to out direction). How much does this matter, and also what effect it has on the rest of the swing? Hope this isn’t going too off topic in this particular blog entry
I’ve said it before, Monte, and I’ll say it again: you are quite simply the best teacher in golf. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a video of yours and seen my exact problem in your “don’t do this” portion. I knew I was doing something wrong, but not what. I’m one of those whip-it-to-the-inside guys. Thanks for this.
Great video! Can you explain a little bit more what you mean by lifting the left alarm at the angle that the body is bent forward? I think that is the missing piece for me! Thank you again for the time and effort you put into these videos.
Monte, exactly what you have me working on. I would only add that the palm/hand isn’t the reference point – you can rotate that withou the upper arm. The Elbow point or pocket should be the reference. So if the Elbow point is is looking at the left hip at address, it will rotate up toward the ball in the backswing and as much as you can handle before transition. The caveat is doing this withou letting the left arm fly away front the chest. I know it’s tough in a 3 minute video, but this really needs a huge amount of attention.
Great video, thanks.
Awesome video Monte! Thank you:)
Great video. But for those who still struggle and/or like a strong feeling for that proper rotation I can really recommend this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bWhdPRoUmI
and thereafter, for me, only this move finally took care of it in practice http://www.onemovetobettergolf.com/#!what-is-the-one-move/c1ky7
Thanks, Monte. I always enjoy your videos and your short game video has helped me a lot.
But I poked around on youtube and now I’m confused. I found some Jimmy Ballard/Rocco Mediate videos going on about how the elbow(s) should always be kept facing down – which they claim helps with staying connected.
Is it just a difference of opinion and approach?
Thanks.
Needed this. Somehow fell into the keep the clubhead outside the hands routine and ended up with the damn thing across the line. Not a good feeling when transitioning down with the driver I tell you. Will be working on this during the Michigan winter.
Thank you.
