He did the same thing in San Antonio this year. Got into contention and had a bad start Saturday.
Hope he recovers like he did in Texas.

Cripes. Bogies 3 of first five like me.
You don’t need to birdie every hole Frank.
Quick Monte, teach him how not to pull it.
It’s not physical.
He is pressing to hard, it’s his nature. I don’t mean he’s nervous. Frank demands excellence from himself.
Got to know how to produce excellence then.
Um….winning twice on the PGA Tour and shooting 64 during your quest to regain your game isn’t excellence???
No, one round or even two dont cut it, 4 is the competition.
Until that happens its just excuses for what could be.
There is no reason he shouldnt be able to play similiar today as he did yesterday or tomorow unless he change his focus from yesterday. Not about his technique, as the ability to maintain trust in his abilites.
Excellence isnt one round in my book.
“Not about his technique, as the ability to maintain trust in his abilites. ”
You got that right.
“You got that right.”
Thanks.
It seems like he does well under pressure that he himself has created, recovering as he did to some extent in texas. Its likely he establish some pressure that make him go outside his comfort zone before the round.
So when he starts he is a little off but recover back as he takes control over the pressure during the round. There a few ways one can set the action before the round making it a higher efficiency of performance.
Nice. Coming back to it.
73, T47. He got beaten by a lot of guys having bad years.
But, it’s a cut made, and a step forward.
