This is a good drill for capturing the feel of extending through the impact zone. It’s so easy for me to get into the habit of hitting AT the ball rather than THROUGH the impact zone (even though I know what I should be doing, it can be hard to implement). With this drill it’s easy know what extending through the impact zone really feels like. When I do this, then hit a full shot, there is a nice carry over and I can feel the momentum of my swing going through the impact zone and toward the target, instead of being directed at the ball. When I do it right, a proper finish happens automatically. Nice drill. Thanks.

    Monte,
Can you post a drill to stop the flip at impact so you get a flat wrist at impact? Thanks

Better: You can take a running shoe on a carpet and address the heel end and do the drill. It gives you weight and friction resistance and better replicates the feel you are seeking. The shoe will go a few feet.

You will not get the same feel on the release as you will using a ball. The shoe will hold the toe open.
