Here is a video exhibiting the drill I described the other day. It shows how to do it properly and some of the possible mistakes.

Very cool. That will be my new afternoon drill. Thanks for posting the video.

Excellent vid – thanks for putting this one together. I can’t wait to give this one a try and see how pitiful I do!
Thanks, Monte.
That looks like a long wedge.
This is a good drill for capturing the feel of extending through the impact zone. It’s so easy for me to get into the habit of hitting AT the ball rather than THROUGH the impact zone (even though I know what I should be doing, it can be hard to implement). With this drill it’s easy know what extending through the impact zone really feels like. When I do this, then hit a full shot, there is a nice carry over and I can feel the momentum of my swing going through the impact zone and toward the target, instead of being directed at the ball. When I do it right, a proper finish happens automatically. Nice drill. Thanks.
Monte,
Can you post a drill to stop the flip at impact so you get a flat wrist at impact? Thanks
charlie
Thanks for the great video post. The visual aid is so informative!
too bad you can’t just text tiger & say “hey dude try this for awhile”………….
then again it looks like Freddy doesn’t think he needs it………..

Better: You can take a running shoe on a carpet and address the heel end and do the drill. It gives you weight and friction resistance and better replicates the feel you are seeking. The shoe will go a few feet.
You will not get the same feel on the release as you will using a ball. The shoe will hold the toe open.
