I made a video to describe a lower body move that most people avoid because they have been hit over the head so many times about not sliding and staying behind the ball.
You are supposed to keep your upper body behind the ball, while your lower body moves toward the target and gets your weight to your front side. That also causes the ideal spine tilt behind the ball if your upper body is behind the ball and lower body moving toward the target.
For some there will be a small amount of rolling on the outside of the front foot, even though it is not ideal. What you don’t want is a significant amount of roll on the outside of the front foot.

Good video. Would add I guess that the upper body shouldn’t move left also. Was behind a guy at the range last night who was struggling…when his lower body moved forward (and it looked like it was turning also) there was no tilt because his upper body was going along for the ride.
I don’t know if you read the intro above but I said exactly that. I forgot to add that at the end of the video. 😀
Duh…I jumped right to the video, LOL.
Monte, you may remember from my lessons I have some of that “upper body moving towards target”. Do you have a “thought” or drill that would aid in the correction ?
I’m still working on firming up my right arm(lefty) in my backswing, but recent videos still show my upper body lunge forwards.
thanks
I don’t know if this will work for you…but for me and a couple of other students this has worked. Hit 50 yard wedges were you feel the lower body go forward and upper body go backward. It feels funny and doing it on a 50 yard shot, you won’t hurt yourself.
Video yourself doing it and you will most likely be surprised of the outcome.
