My second child will be born on Wednesday.

On Wednesday my wife is having a planned C-section and we will have a baby girl to annoy our son. The reason I am telling you this is I need you guys to cut me some slack if the content is a little lite for a few weeks. I am still going to try and post every day like I do now, but lack of sleep may cause some lack of originality.

For the new readers I will probably be re-posting some popular topics from last year. For the long time readers, you will get a reminder of some good stuff.

Plus, soon I hope to have an ebook about my career that will contain entertaining stories about my successes, failures, groupies, fights…basically a golf book that contains gratuitous sex and violence. That and a few good posts here and there will keep you all occupied till I regain some semblance of my sanity from all the sleep deprivation.

It starts in 1982 and I am up to 1994 right now. 2003-2007 will be empty as all I did was chop, so not much entertaining happened, so I am more than half done.

It won’t be literature by any stretch, but I think you will all enjoy it.

If you need an idea that isn’t too challenging, how about your recommendations about teaching golf to kids?

Or, what you”ll look for in a caddy (when you go back out on Tour)…

How many wedges you carry and why…

What you think about manufacturers increasing the length of a standard driver, decreasing loft…

Good luck with everything, and get your sleep now. It might be sparse after next week.

Congratulations and all the best to you and your family! It’s such a precious moment in life. Family first, as my Dad, always said.

Monte, congrats on the baby! I won’t offer any advice. I’ve led a long, happy life with only my wife and our dogs as companions. I can’t imagine handling kids.

You mentioned your eBook. I’d make this offer in an e-mail but don’t see one listed. If you’d like the book to be edited, I’ll offer you a set of eyes for free — as long as it isn’t too long and your deadline isn’t too tight.

I’ve been editing and writing speeches for a UN agency that past few years, but had a long career as a foreign correspondent, international magazine bureau chief, and national and foreign editor, at various times, at a US newspaper.

If you are interested, you have my e-mail.
